Look for your produce and adjust the pricing by 25-40% less than the listed price here.

Note on Resource and Process for Community Gardeners
This guidance is for community gardeners working with Rolling Tomato and valuing produce for donation pickups or meeting funder requirements, particularly if we implement garden stipends in the future.

Community gardens with food to share via donation can value their produce at 25-40% less than the pricing listed on the NOFA NY site, taking into account:

  • Regional differences and nuanced shifts in costs of living: Idaho’s food valuation is unique and may differ from other regions like the many parts of New York State this index was provided from.

  • Limited indexes of food value: Most places don’t provide a food value index, but it’s a GREAT resource when that information is available. 

  • Quality differences: Our produce may not always be A-grade, market-ready (not every veggie is ready for the best-looking-veggie-in-town-show), but it should still be healthy and safe to eat, ready to go for donation and sharing.
